MO2 is still around for the foreseeable future. It's been in alpha for a while but recently they promoted it to beta, and apparently it's stable enough that they officially recommend it over NMM now. IIRC he didn't care for how MO ended up, and Nexus didn't like NMM anymore, so they went for a new one: Vortex.
